We hereby inform you that, we have gone through your article which you have published on 17.06.2016, Deccan Chronical, Chennai Edition 2nd page under the Heading of “Four TN Beaches make Dirtiest Stretch” with highlighting “Heavy minerals exploited without proper replenishment”.
Actually, we are given below real facts about sea erosion to publish your paper immediately regarding objection against the above mentioned your article.
When you mentioned about sea erosion in Southern District because of private miners without understanding facts, mean while you have mentioned about Pondy, cuddalore face sea intrusion because of global warming with reference of Mr.Prabir Banerjee research/study report in that area. Hence, every one clearly understand that there are many reasons for sea erosion and intrusion, not because heavy minerals exploited by private miners since they are following up statutory clearances conditions exactly to prevent the sea erosion / intrusion in and around of their mining lease areas.
We are associating with this mineral sand mining for more than 30 years in Southern District of Tamil nadu especially. When a company made mining with proper statutory clearance inclusive of CRZ clearance, pollution control board clearance etc. there is no possibility to affect seashore or the coastal area. For example, during the Tsunami all the Tamilnadu Coastal districts are affected, whereas, there is no damage in Southern District of Tamil nadu either to the seashore or to the people, where beach mineral mining leases are granted to private parties. The main reason they have complied the conditions of CRZ and other statutory clearance and the mining operations are under the Direct supervision of First class mines Manager, Mining Geologists and other statutory appointed qualified persons. Hence there is no damage to private mining lease areas too and its nearby village people.
Also, when we go through your article pictures, you have clearly posted sea erosion pictures that, kollamkode which is located in Kanyakumari District and this lease owned by IRE Ltd., not by private mining companies, which kindly note.
Further, the Govt., of India is also operating this beach mineral mining industry namely IRE Ltd. in Manavalakurichi, Lakshmipuram, Kollachel villages, where during the Tsunami more than 400 lives were lost on that area. The main reason is IRE Ltd was carrying out mining activities without proper CRZ Clearance under CRZ Notification. But they still continue to operating the mines even now without clearance. That is why, the erosion is very huge on that areas.
When the fact is so, you have published that “Four TN Beaches make Dirtiest Stretch” with highlighting “Heavy minerals exploited without proper replenishment” in your news paper without any evidence in respect of beach mineral mining. Please note all the area where you indicated the road damage etc., are under IRE Ltd not in private mining lease area. There are no private mining leases granted in any of the above said four areas as you mentioned. Moreover there is no sea erosion in any villages where mining leases were granted to private parties. Hence, there is no sea wall constructed by the Government. The main reason is the lessees are complying with the terms and conditions of the CRZ Clearances.
Further your news published without mentioning IRE Ltd, Govt., company who violate the rules will definitely affect the private mining lessees who are operating in accordance with law.
There is no possibility for over exploitation because the quantity will be approved by MoEF expert committee while scrutinizing the EIA / EMP Reports.
You may well aware that, the coastal erosion is a common issue in all over the world because of climatic conditions changes by naturally.
